New employee at Neumarkt Galerie

In November, the humanoid robot "Pepper" introduced himself as a new employee at the Neumarkt Galerie in Cologne. This was made possible by the cooperation with the company Entrance Robotics GmbH. Pepper is used to control the observance of the mask obligation and the minimum distances of the visitors. Pepper speaks, sings and dances, with his gestures and facial expressions he reacts in a very human way and quickly becomes a popular figure. In addition, the escalator handrails were equipped with UVC modules to kill germs, viruses and bacteria and provide visitors with a safe shopping experience.

Promoting young talents at Apleona Real Estate Management

A lack of skilled employees seems to be a major problem in the real estate business which is why promoting young talents is all the more important. Apleona Real Estate offers a wide range of opportunities for young, creative minds to realise their own career potential in the best possible way.

Apleona Real Estate's Building Advisory team supervises bachelor's and master's theses. This week we congratulate Anastassia Zitz on the successful completion of her Master's thesis and took this opportunity to interview Norbert Bodo Löffler and Ms Anastassia Zitz:

Mr Löffler, how long have you been supervising theses?

I have been supervising theses since 2003, and since 2009 I have been giving annual guest lectures at several universities to present our company and our tasks to the students, but also to convey content from the operation of real estate. In my team, we supervise between one and three final theses per year, almost all of which I supervise as a second examiner.

How do you support the students in the best possible way?

We try to accompany students already during their studies. This often starts - similar to Ms. Zitz - within the framework of a compulsory internship, then continues with continuous support during the studies as a student assistant, and often leads to employment as a project manager after the final thesis has been completed. During this time, they work and grow professionally and personally alongside experienced project managers and benefit from an environment in which they can gain initial experience in dealing with projects and clients. Here, we follow the rule that training is always in the foreground and has first priority. We make it possible for our students to get to know the theoretical knowledge imparted during their studies in practical application even before they graduate.

What experience do students have in Building Advisory?

For many years, we have offered students the opportunity to get to know us during their studies. Many engineering students usually associate pure administrative activities with the subject areas of property and asset management. Through internships and temporary student jobs, we offer students the opportunity to gain an insight into our work and projects. Time and again we get feedback that they never expected how diverse and exciting the topics we work on are, and we experience how enthusiastically prospective engineers get involved. They experience how much can be achieved with engineering education in real estate and can directly experience the results of their actions.

Ms. Zitz, how did you come to work at Apleona Real Estate GmbH? How did you find working in the Building Advisory department?

As part of an internship in August 2019 and subsequent working student activity, I had the opportunity to get to know the Building Advisory team. I was integrated into the team very quickly and was able to take on tasks independently and on my own responsibility right from the start. Working at Apleona allowed me to gain insights into the practical side of the real estate industry and to derive practical knowledge for my Master's degree and further career. In addition, I was promised supervision for my master's thesis. I was free to choose the direction and topic of my Master's thesis, so my wishes and ideas were always taken into account. I was always supported during the course of the master's thesis and could turn to my colleagues with any questions. The supervision by Apleona enabled me to get in touch with various experts from the real estate industry who enriched my master's thesis with their knowledge. I would like to thank the team and especially Mr Nobert Löffler for the great support.
